On-Site Farm Butcher Service

We are a family owned and operated mobile butcher service. Our Mission is to support small farmers, ranchers and families who raise livestock to feed their families and others. We provide on-site farm butchering services, and transportation to local custom butcher shops in a clean, refrigerated butcher truck.

We have been raising our own livestock to feed our family for over 10 years. We understand the blood, sweat, and sometimes tears that comes with raising these animals. We understand for some, this process is new.

  • You can expect us to answer the phone or return calls by the end of the work day.

  • You can expect us to listen and be patient with all of your questions.

  • You can expect we will do our very best to help you work through anything that comes up with your animals to help you get your livestock from the farm to your freezers.

  • Before scheduling appointments, we will ask about your animals, property for accessibility, and answer any questions you may have. We will contact you a few days before your appointment date to remind you of what needs to be done prior to our arrival. Please see the “Appointment Day Checklist” tab.

FAQs

  • Do I need to reserve a spot with Hottingers Family Meats or Scott’s Custom Meats?

No. We arrange the dates for you with the shops. The dates are based on our route schedule, and the shops availability (holidays, fair weeks, etc.)

  • Do you leave the animal entrails, hide, etc.?

No. We haul off-site and dispose of all of the animal entrails, hide, etc. We do our best to make sure there is no mess left behind.

  • Can I keep any part of the animal I want?

Yes. If you want to keep any of the offal (organ meat) or any of the entrails, please be prepared to have trash bags, buckets, wheel barrel etc. If you would like to send the offal to the shop to be wrapped and frozen, please let us know a head of time or at the appointment date. Not after the appointment.

  • Can I keep my animal to butcher at home?

Yes. We will cut the quarters into smaller pieces for better handling.

  • Do I need to separate my animals in their pens?

No. They just need to be penned and easily accessed.

  • Should I stop feeding the animal 24 hours prior to the appointment date?

Yes. Less undigested food left in the stomach means less mess. Water is okay.

  • Can I keep hides and heads?

    Yes.
