So Cal Mobile Butchering Appointment Day Checklist

  • Choose a butcher shop - Hottingers Family Meats or Scott’s Custom Meats  

    (If not processing on your own)

  • Confirm any accessibility issues ahead of time. Heavy, large, tall truck. Need to be able to back truck up to pen.

  • Make sure the animals are penned. Not in a pasture. 

  • Access to a good water hose and water source.

  • Please put dogs away.

  • If possible, please do not feed animals 24 hours prior to appointment date. Water is okay.

  • Have names and phone numbers ready if splitting shares of the animal.

  • Have containers ready for any offal or other portions you want to keeping (Oxtail, Liver, Heart, Tongue, Etc.)

  • Let us know ahead of time if you need the animal cut smaller. Depending on the time it takes, this may be an extra charge. However, we want to make sure we give you the time from us it takes to get the job done.

  • Make sure you ask questions ahead of time, if this is the first time you are doing home butcher processing.
